Start with the original share page
A video preview and a downloadable video file serve different purposes. The preview lets you watch online; the download option, when available, saves a file to your device. Copy the complete share link from the owner and check that it points to the video you expected.
Review the displayed file name and size before starting. If the page asks for a share code or sign-in, follow its access requirements rather than looking for a way around them.
Check your share-link formatChoose the available download option
Use the download control shown by the original service. This guide does not create a different-resolution copy or convert the file. Where a choice is offered, compare the displayed size and format with the space available on your device.
A larger file can require more time and storage. Keep the connection stable and wait for the browser or app to confirm completion before moving or opening the file.
Find and play the saved file
Open the browser’s download list to see where the video was saved. Match the file name to the share page so that you do not accidentally open an earlier download with a similar name.
A completed download can still require a player that supports its format. An incomplete download may fail to play or end abruptly. Check completion first, then compare the saved file with the original information.
- Check the file name and extension.
- Confirm that the download list shows a completed transfer.
- Keep the original share link until you have verified the saved video.
When a video cannot be downloaded
A valid-looking share link may lead to a deleted file or a restricted share. Ask the owner to confirm that the link is current and that downloading is permitted. A streaming preview alone does not prove that a download option is available.
If a transfer stops, check available storage and your connection. Use a resume option only when the browser offers one; otherwise restart from the original share page. Avoid repeated attempts with an outdated temporary link.
